The long-awaited debut full-length album from actor and Americana singer-songwriter Alan Fletcher, The Point, is out now
The Point – which also features album producers and multi-instrumentalists Damian Cafarella and Lachlan Bryan, Luke Moller on fiddle, and Jennifer Hansen providing duet vocals on ‘Somebody’ – was recorded at End Of The Road Studio in Melbourne, showcasing Alan’s particular take on the world, drawing influence and inspiration from singer-songwriters such as John Prine and Guy Clark amongst others, and follows on from the release of his EP Dispatches last year.
The album opener and title track began life “as a light spoof on religion,” before Fletcher “quickly realised that the song had much more potential. Do we not spend our lives asking the biggest question, what is the point of it all?”
Alan is due to take to the road in the UK again later this month, and throughout March and April. In addition to his forthcoming appearance this March in Neighbours – The Celebration Tour for fifteen shows alongside fellow cast members Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Annie Jones and April Rose Pengilly – including three sold-out nights at the London Palladium – he will join frequent collaborators Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes on the road for fifteen headline shows across the UK, performing music from the new album.
