Paul Bogart e Nick Palmer alla chitarra, hanno regalato, al numeroso pubblico della sala Estense di San Martino In Rio (RE), una emozione lunga tre ore. Tre ore di pura country music che il singer/songwriter dell’Oklahoma ha interpretato di slancio, in maniera generosa alternando brani tratti dai suoi tre albums (Makin Hay, The Ride e Oklahoma Wind) con classici della musica country di tutti i tempi. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, George Strait ma anche Garth Brooks possono considerarsi soddisfatti: i loro successi di un tempo, attraverso la stupenda voce di Paul, hanno acquistato nuova linfa e vitalità. Nicholas (Nick) Palmer è un fenomeno. Con la sua chitarra acustica riesce a tessere un tappeto sonoro fatto di note scintillanti, guizzanti e si faceva davvero fatica a credere che a suonare fossero solo lui e Paul è non una band al completo. Bogart ha davvero lasciato il segno e il pubblico di San Martino si è innamorato di questo cowboy fin dalla prima canzone. Grandi le covers. Da Folsom Prison Blues a Luckenbach TX, da The Chair o Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys, da The Ring Of Fire a The Auctioneer per poi concludere con una Friends In Low Places cantata con lo spirito giusto, in perfetta sintonia col testo e l’anima della canzone. Se le covers hanno fatto da stupenda cornice, i brani originali sono stati il vero cuore dell’intero concerto. Paul è un artista completo, capace di creare canzoni di notevole spessore artistico e quando interpreta i suoi pezzi riesce a trasmetterne tutta la carica positiva. Play, The Cowboy Way, Sweet Little Her, Old School Country Song, tanto per citarne alcune, sono davvero grandi, e la versione acustica ne esalta ancora di più la bellezza e la vena melodica. Un concerto memorabile che ha evidenziato ancora una volta quello che nell’ambiente della country music si sapeva già da tempo: Paul Bogart è destinato a raccogliere il testimone lasciato da Chris Ledoux.
Paul Bogart and Nick Palmer on guitar, gave, to the numerous audience of the Sala Estense Hall in San Martino in Rio (RE),Italy, a three long hour emotion. Three hours of pure country music that the singer / songwriter from Oklahoma interpreted in a generous manner, playing tracks from his three albums (Makin Hay, The Ride and Oklahoma Wind) adding occasionally some all-time country classics. Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, George Strait but also Garth Brooks can consider themselves satisfied: their successes of the past, through the marvellous voice of Paul, acquired new life and vitality. Nicholas (Nick) Palmer is a phenomenon. With his acoustic guitar, he manages to weave a “musical” carpet made of magical and captivating notes , and it was really hard to believe that on stage were just him and Paul, and not a complete band. Bogart has really left his mark amongst the audience of San Martino, who has fallen in love with this cowboy from the first song to the last. The cover songs were great. From “Folsom Prison Blues” to “Luckenbach TX”, from “The Chair” to “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys”, from “The Ring Of Fire” to “The Auctioneer” and then conclude with “Friends In Low Places” sung with the right spirit, in perfect harmony with the text and the soul of the song. If the covers made for a beautiful setting, the original songs were the real heart of the entire concert. Paul is a complete artist, able to create songs of great artistic value, and when he’s playing his songs, he does it so in such a way that the audience is able to feel this energy. “Play”, “The Cowboy Way”, “Sweet Little Her”, “Old School Country Song”, to name a few, are really great, and the acoustic version enhances even more the beauty and melodic vein. A memorable concert, which pointed out once again,what has been known in the country music scene for some time, that Paul Bogart will be the new Chris Ledoux. (Gianluca Sitta)
