Born in 1981 in Houston TX, John Slaughter, before this album, was known for having reached the top position of the Texas Music Charts as co-author of two songs, one played by Roger Creager , (I Love Being Lonesome) and the other by Cody Johnson, (Pray For Rain). Given the conditions, it was clear that this guy had pretty clear ideas when it came to music. As a matter of fact, “Stay For A While” reflects all the musical convictions of a typical country artist coming from Texas. Showing great artistic maturity, although very young, John confirms that he has talent, as an author as well as a singer. The CD opens with “Need A Little Something”, a good shuffle song with a very good guitar riff. “Stay For a While” is a classic Texas country song ( for yours truly, the best track of the whole CD) whilst “Single Rose Kind Of Girl” reveals John’s unexpected romantic side. “Pray For Rain” already reached the top position of the top 10 thanks to Cody Johnson, therefore a guarantee, whilst “Do Not Drink My Whiskey” brings to mind certain songs by Kevin Fowler. Last but not least “Timbertown” and “The Broken White Line”. Great live energy, John Slaughter is set to become a new star of the Country music scene of the Lone Star State.( Gianluca Sitta)
